When it comes to providing details on his much awaited upcoming picture Rebel Moon, director Zack Snyder hasn’t shied away. Though he regularly used social media before that date to showcase the real spacecraft and makeup effects among other things made for the enormous project at Netflix, the expansive space epic finished production back on December 3. Another behind-the-scenes photo from the movie that he just published depicts an elaborate interior set piece that alludes to the project’s sci-fi theme.

Even though the set is rather beautiful, there isn’t much to be learned from the picture. With a corridor and steps leading to an elevated platform where an intimidating man is standing surrounded by others in front of a huge circular window, the magnificent edifice appears to be a significant location in Snyder’s film. The venue has paintings on the walls that give it an additional air of solemnity. It appears to be the palace of a significant person in Snyder’s universe. Although the director acknowledged that the shot was imperfect, a lot more work still needed to be done on the movie.

Snyder created Rebel Moon to be his epic response to Star Wars, creating a multi-part space opera to compete with the widely popular Disney-owned series. The real narrative of the movie is being kept under wraps, unlike the setpieces and VFX. We do, however, know that the movie will focus on a peaceful space colony that is under danger from the advancing armies of the oppressive tyrant Belisarius (Ed Skrein). They pin their hopes on an enigmatic young lady named Kora (Sofia Boutella), who embarks on a mission to assemble warriors from all corners of the cosmos to oppose the tyrant’s army and fight injustice. It is reported to have drawn extensively on the Seven Samurai film by Akira Kurosawa.
