The makers of the upcoming political drama Panne, released the trailer of the series on Thursday. The series, which is billed as female-oriented patriotic drama, is set in the post-independence era.

The series is directed by Ram Alladi who also serves as screenwriter.

“Panne is a story that begins at the border and is politically layered by the shadow of religion under British control, where numerous villages were burned to ashes by extremists. A few pages were born from the embers of those ashes to tell the stories of independence,” reads the synopsis of the series. The trailer showcases the themes of freedom, friendship, betrayal, explored thrugh a range of characters.

In a statement, Alladi said, “Working on Panne has been a life-changing experience after getting a tremendous response on teaser & poster, I am looking forward to the audience watching our individual interpretations of social and personal identity based on individual’s way of life, which also has a fundamental introduction of the plot and the glimpse of prime characters, and as I said earlier Panne is a periodic fictional story in post-independent India. It is about freedom, It is about friendship and betrayal, and about social imbalances, It is about the change and it is about a war between us and we.”

The series stars Kalpana Tiwari, Pankaj Munshi, Anand Rangarajan, Vijaya Posala, Slipa Das, Prasad Kamalanabha and Sam Mukherjeerjee.

Panne was filmed in English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The series was shot in Hyderabad, Telangana, and Warangal and is set to release in August, However, the date is yet to be announced.
