Chris Williams’ 2022 animated adventure movie The Sea Beast is now under production at Netflix.
A sea monster hunter and an orphaned girl search for an elusive Red Bluster in the animated film The Sea Beast, which stars Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
After playing in theatres, the movie is now available to stream on Netflix. It received favourable reviews and quickly rose to the top of the list of movies viewed. The Netflix-backed and -distributed movie topped the top 10 film charts and became the most-watched animated feature picture on the streaming service.
Although a sequel was not originally intended, Chris said to The Hollywood Reporter that he never considered shooting more than one film. We did not have a series in mind. And that was a nice thing. I didn’t want to attempt to build up anything for the future; I just wanted this to be enjoyable.
He said, “Making the first one seem credible and real was a top focus. And when I considered the actual conclusion of The Sea Beast, everything seemed to be neatly wound up. Isn’t it wonderful how the father and daughter are sitting on the pier, acknowledging how the world has evolved and abandoned the pursuit of monsters? But as I gave it more attention, I came to see that there was still more to the narrative.
