Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, from DreamWorks, had a successful second weekend at the box office as 2022 came to a conclusion. After the three-day weekend, the second Shrek movie featuring the popular cat has earned nearly $130 million at the international box office, with a total of $129.5 million since its December 21 release.

The movie has now been released in 72 locations after debuting in 18 new markets, including Australia. Over the course of the second weekend, $22.4 million was made at the foreign box office. The film’s foreign total grew to $68.8 million thanks to a robust 15% gain over the previous Christmas weekend. This puts the new movie on par with Illumination’s Sing 2 at the same time, excluding China.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish maintained its second-place finish from the previous weekend at the domestic box office, trailing only Avatar: The Way of Water. The domestic box office increased over the previous weekend, increasing by an astonishing 31% and earning $16.3 million during the three-day weekend, much like the international markets. The total domestic sales have reached $60.7 million.
