Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar is the film’s director and Ronnie Screwvala is its producer. The movie “Chhatriwali” wants to make a big societal point about how important safe sex and male contraception are.

Rakul plays the part of the quality control manager of a condom manufacturer in the Haryana-set movie.

The logline says, “Although she is first bashful and ashamed of her work, she quickly realises the necessity of safe sex and then takes it upon herself to destigmatise the dialogue around sex education.”

On the occasion of World Aids Day, the film’s creators announced its digital distribution. Rakul claimed that “Chhatriwali” is unique since it is a fun movie with an important social message. In a statement, the actor stated, “On this World Aids Day, I join the fight against HIV by promoting the use of male contraceptives and the value of safe sex with my next film, Chhatriwali.

Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India said they are excited to bring forth a film which deals with a taboo subject of sex education in a progressive and an entertaining manner. “The film delivers a punch about the importance of sex education with humour and sensitivity. With a mix of social message, strong woman character, comedy, subtlety, and lots of drama, Chhatriwali is sure to entertain and educate our audience,” he added.

Screwvala said he and his team at RSVP Movies are happy to back strong female-led stories. “We are happy to back strong female led storieswith a meaningful narrative and Chhatriwali is just that. Without sounding too preachy, we have made a mass family entertainer laced with an important message because the idea is to normalize conversations about sex education and safe sex,” she said.
