Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is perhaps one of the Marvel movies that departs from the studio’s typical storytelling style the most. We are all aware of the cause for this: Chadwick Boseman’s passing compelled the company to change the plot and temporarily disregard the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ryan Coogler, the film’s director and screenwriter, noted in a New York Times interview that the early draught of the script already had the features that would set it apart significantly from the other Marvel films.

In the interview, Coogler said how T’Challa and Nakia’s (Lupita Nyong’o) son Toussaint (Divine Love Konadu-Sun) was already a part of the plot in the first, Chadwick Boseman-starring Black Panther 2. But the youngster was first revealed right at the start of the film. Toussaint is only shown in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s closing credits sequence. The plan, according to Coogler, was to demonstrate how T’Challa (Boseman), who was Blipped into dust by Thanos, missed his son’s first five years of existence (Josh Brolin).
