The film is the only one from India to have been featured in the festival’s “First Feature Competition,” which is held every year in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

The Shimla-set Amar Colony stars Nimisha Nair, Sangeeta Agrawal, and Usha Chauhan and centres on three women living in a chawl and going about their ordinary lives, which serve as a metaphor for the human condition.

At the renowned ceremony where the movie had its world debut, Chauhan stated he was thrilled that the movie had won an award.

“I am incredibly moved by the support that the European audience and POFF (Festival) have given to our movie. I truly didn’t anticipate my movie getting such a response. In a statement, the filmmaker stated, “I want to thank the jury for thinking we were worth it.

According to Therese Malvar, a co-juror for the “First Feature Competition,” Amar Colony received the award for originality of concept.

According to Malvar, “This film delighted us with a bold and creative picture of a tiny town population whose frank sensuality and unashamed pursuit of desires, both human and divine, are set against the resonating backdrop of a highly personal and culturally rich setting.”

The film’s director “darefully takes us by the hand and leads us on a tour to his universe, showing us to his characters and their lives with affection and frequently with humour,” the critic continued.

“Winning the Special Jury Award for Amar Colony is a dream come true. In the years to come, Siddharth Chauhan is a filmmaker to watch, according to Indie Film Collective producer Nisheeth Kumar.

In collaboration with Goopy Bagha Productions, the movie is made.

The 27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which takes place from December 9–16 in Thiruvananthapuram, will feature the Indian premiere of Amar Colony under the “Indian Cinema Now” section.
