The trailer of Aasmaan Bhardwaj’s black comedy thriller Kuttey, starring Arjun Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kumud Mishra, and Shardul Bharadwaj, was unveiled in Mumbai today.

The film is produced by Aasman’s father, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, along with Luv Ranjan and Bhushan Kumar.

At the trailer launch event, Tabu revealed that her role in the film was written for a male actor. “Actually, this character was written for a male actor and later changed for me. It was challenging and fun for me to play this character.”

“It is the most complex character for sure. It is very different from what I have done recently. But the creative exchange that I have with him (Vishal) is different from what I have with others. I have a lot of creative freedom when I am working with him and now Aasmaan too.” the actress added.

Tabu has worked with Vishal Bhardwaj in MaqboolHaider, and yet-to-be-released Netflix film Khufiya.

Addressing the comparison between the filmmaker father-son duo, Tabu said Aasmaan’s Kuttey was different from the films made by Vishal. “So, there’s no comparison [between father and son]. Aasmaan is a different kind of filmmaker. Of course, the thought and aesthetics is similar to Vishal, but his cinema is different. When I read the script of Kuttey, I felt this difference.”

Tabu, who has seen Aasmaan grow up to become a filmmaker, walked down memory lane at the event. “I have known Aasmaan since the time he was born. Gulzar Sahab had named him Aasmaan. On the sets of Maqbool, little Aasmaan would roam around with a wooden camera,” she said.
