A close friend told the media that veteran actor Sunil Shende, best known for his roles in films and television shows like Circus, Shanti, and Sarfarosh, passed away in Mumbai on Monday.He was 70 years old.At the residence he shared with Vile Parle, the actor passed away.
His companion and film and music pundit Pavan Jha told PTI, “He passed on at his home in Terrible Parle at 1 am the previous evening and his body was incinerated this evening at the Hindu crematorium in Parshiwada.”The actor died without being identified at the time.
Actor Rajesh Tailang remembered working with Sunil Shende on the cult classic Shanti and paid tribute to him on Twitter.Shri Sunil Shende, a great actor and person, has passed away.I was fortunate to collaborate with him on the television series Shanti, where I played his son.Babuji saadar shraddhanjali,” he tweeted.Sunil worked in a variety of films and television shows over his 30-year career.In films like Gandhi, Khal Nayak, Ghayaal, Ziddi, Daud, Magan, and Viruddh, he played prominent supporting roles.The deputy commissioner of police in the film Sarfarosh, starring Aamir Khan, was one of his most memorable roles.
He also appeared in a number of well-known television shows, such as Shanti, which propelled Mandira Bedi to fame.Before making his film debut, he had a significant role in the 1989 television show Circus, which starred Shah Rukh Khan.
