Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, who play the lead roles in the Bad Boys movie series, have revealed that the fourth instalment is already in pre-production. They posted a reel of the news on Instagram to spread the word. The provisionally untitled movie is now in the early stages of pre-production, according to Sony Pictures.

Before, there were rumours that the fourth movie was postponed due to the infamous Chris Rock and Will Smith Oscar confrontation. Tom Rothman from Sony Productions refuted the assertion and stated that the movie is indeed under production.

For the fourth instalment, directors Adil El Arbi and Billall Fallah will reteam. The pilot and series finale of Ms. Marvel were directed by El Arbi and Fallah, who also served as executive producers. The script for Bad Boys 4 will be written by Chris Bemmer.

The Bad Boys franchise is 25 years old. The first film in the series came out in 1995. Its sequel was released seven years later in 2003. But the third instalment took about 17 years to hit the screens. Bad Boys For Life is about two detectives solving a series of murders.
