The popular Japanese superhero manga series My Hero Academia will be transformed into a live-action movie by Netflix.

It is overseen by Shinuske Sato, the director of the forthcoming Alice in Borderland, and is produced by Legendary Entertainment’s Mary Parent and Alex Garcia. Joby Harold wrote the screenplay for the movie.

Kohei Horikoshiis’ book My Hero Academia, which he wrote and drew, is well-known for its “In a universe where 80% of people on Earth have an outstanding skill known as a quirk, high school is a struggle for a group of diverse personalities. Izuku Midoriya (aka Deku), a superhero fanatic, almost gave up on his ambition of attending UA High School, the most prominent hero training institution, because he was born without a quirk. But Deku starts on the path to becoming the greatest hero after a fortuitous encounter with the fabled All Might.” Distributors Tohi Co. will play the movie in theatres in Japan.
