Academy Award nominee-turned-aged action superstar Liam Neeson transports his particular set of skills to 1930s Los Angeles in the newly released trailer for Marlowe. A gritty, neo-noir thriller, the trailer comes courtesy of Open Road Films, who have also unveiled a new poster alongside the footage. A poster that harkens back to the Golden Age of Hollywood. Check out the new trailer and poster for Marlowe below.

Set in late 1930s Los Angeles, Marlowe centers around a street-wise, down-on-his-luck detective, Philip Marlowe, played by Liam Neeson, who is hired to find the ex-lover of a glamorous heiress (Diane Kruger), daughter of a well-known movie star (Jessica Lange). The disappearance unearths a web of lies, and soon Marlowe is involved in a dangerous, deadly investigation where everyone involved has something to hide. Lies that Marlowe is determined to bring to light.

Directed by Neil Jordan, best known for the likes of Byzantium, Interview with the Vampire, and Greta, is adapting the iconic literary character Phillip Marlowe for the big screen alongside the Academy Award-winning writer behind The Departed, William Monahan.

Created by novelist Raymond Chandler in 1939, the world of Phillip Marlowe has been adapted for the screen before, many times in fact, with the character’s most well-known appearance on the silver screen being in The Big Sleep in 1946, in which acting legend Humphrey Bogart portrayed the detective. So, Neeson has a lot to live up to, with the actor, of course, bringing his penchant for throwing punches and elbows along for his interpretation.
