Another fan favorite from the John Wick franchise has been confirmed for a return in Ballerina, the first spinoff of the immensely popular action movie series. Lance Reddick, who appears in all three prior John Wick films as well as the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4, has been announced to reprise his role for Ballerina. Reddick plays the role of Charon, a concierge at The Continental Hotel and one of the franchise’s most popular characters.

“Charon is an indispensable part of the world of Wick. It’s great to know that Lance will continue to make his mark on this franchise,” producer Erica Lee said of Reddick returning for the film.

Reddick was recently seen in the seventh and final season of the series Bosch, as well as Netflix’s short-lived Resident Evil reboot series and the streamer’sanimated series Farzar. In recent years, the veteran actor and Oz star has also been seen in films like Sylvie’s Love, One Night in Miami…, and Godzilla vs. Kong. Along with reprising his role as Charon for Ballerina, Reddick is also set to appear in an upcoming remake of White Men Can’t Jump as well as the Shirely Chisholm biopic Shirley.

It was just recently reported that Anjelica Huston is also reprising her John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum role in Ballerina, so Reddick will be in good company with other returning stars from the franchise. It was also previously reported that Ian McShane will return as Winston in the film and there are rumors of Keanu Reeves popping up as John Wick. Of course, the film’s cast is led by Ana de Armas making her franchise debut.

Ballerina is directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten. It’s produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski. Brady Fujikawa and Chelsea Kujawa oversee the project for Lionsgate.

The franchise continues to chug along with other John Wick sequels and a separate spinoff that’s also in active development. John Wick: Chapter 4 will continue to see Reeves upping his body count by the dozens, and there are also plans to make a fifth film. Originally, John Wick 5 was to be filmed back-to-back with the fourth movie, but the pandemic changed things. Meanwhile, there’s also a series in the works at Peacock called The Continental that will serve as a prequel to the movies. It follows Colin Woodell as a young Winston, the character played by Ian McShane in the films, with Mel Gibson also starring.

Production is underway on Ballerina in Prague, but the film doesn’t yet have a premiere date. The Continental doesn’t have a premiere date set but is expected to arrive sometime in 2023. As for John Wick: Chapter 4, that movie will be released in movie theaters following multiple delays on March 24, 2023.
