On January 13, 2023, Lakadbaggha (Hyena), starring Anshuman Jha, will open in theatres everywhere.

The movie, which was based on actual occurrences in Kolkata, is about the illicit pet trade. Anshuman plays a vigilante who defends animals in this Victor Mukherjee film. Recently, the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival hosted the world premiere of Lakadbaggha (KIFF).

In the movie, Arjun Bakshi (Anshuman), while attempting to save his adopted Indian stray canines, learns that a clandestine cell for the illicit traffic in animals runs out of the port of Kolkata. He discovers a rare species of Indian Striped Hyena (Lakadbaggha) during his investigation that has been taken from Corbett National Park and is being sold on the black market.

In preparation for the movie, Anshuman studied Krav-Maga and travelled to New York to work with Tsahi Shemesh (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s trainer).

Anshuman disclosed: “I can’t wait for the world to meet Arjun’s character in Lakadbaggha on January 13. It is my love letter to dogs (and all animals in general). His superpower is that he is an ordinary person. The action in this international movie with an Indian heart, set in Kolakata, is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”

Ridhi Dogra, his co-star, remarked: “Lakadbaggha is a genuinely unique movie since it combines action thrills with heart. Akshara, my persona occupies the liminal space between the protagonist and antagonist’s universes. It is unique since it is my first appearance on a huge screen. And I’m eager for everyone to see it in January 2023.” Additionally, Milind Soman and Paresh Pahuja play significant parts in Lakadbaggha.
