The box office performance of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” will be closely monitored by Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron. The Way of Water, a science fiction film that opens in theaters in December.
According to the report, Cameron has stated that the success of the upcoming sequel will determine the longevity of the “Avatar” film series.
“The market could tell us that we’ll be finished in three months, or it could say that we’re halfway done, which means:In an interview, he told Total Film, “OK, let’s finish the story in movie three, and not go on endlessly’, if it’s just not profitable.”
“Even though I wrote this stuff, we’re in a different world now.The pandemic and streaming are the two-in-one combination.Alternately, we might remind people why they should go to the theater. That definitely happens in this movie. The inquiry is:How many people now care about anything?”Cameron continued.
The director had previously expressed doubt about directing the fourth and fifth installments earlier this year because he is also interested in other projects.

“The Avatar films themselves are kind of all-consuming. I’ve got some other things I’m developing as well that are exciting. I think eventually over time – I don’t know if that’s after three or after four – I’ll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I’m also interested in. Or maybe not. I don’t know,” Cameron told Empire.

‘Avatar:Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet are among the cast members of The Way of Water.
The script was written by Cameron and Josh Friedman and is a sequel to the award-winning 2009 epic adventure “Avatar,” which was released in theaters 13 years ago.On December 16, 2022, it will hit theaters all over the world.
