G20, an action-thriller from Amazon Studios and MRC Film, will star Viola Davis, who is currently starring in The Woman King. Davis will also star in the film and produce it.
The film will be directed by Patricia Riggen, who previously worked on The 33 and Miracles From Heaven. Davis and Julius Tennon, her husband and partner at JuVee Productions, will also serve as producers, along with Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar.
The G20 Summit, which is overrun by terrorists, is the setting for the script by Noah and Logan Miller (White Boy Rick), with revisions by Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss (The Red Lion).Davis plays Taylor Sutton, the president of the United States, who must use all of her statecraft and military training to protect her family, fellow leaders, and, of course, the world.

Julie Rapaport, head of movies at Amazon Studios, said in a statement, “Viola is truly a one-of-a-kind talent both in front of and behind the camera, and we can’t wait to watch her bring the dynamic character that is President Sutton to life.”
In a statement, the co-presidents of MRC Film, Brye Adler and Jonathan Golfman, said, “We cannot wait to see Viola bringing her unmatched strength, depth, and humor to this kind of fun, popcorn movie.”Patricia is the ideal director to strike a balance between a satisfying genre film and a grounded character story.

G20 was made using MRC Film. When it comes out, the Amazon Original Movie will have its Prime Video premiere in more than 240 countries and territories all over the world.
In addition to starring in The Woman King, Davis is currently starring in New Line’s Black Adam as Amanda Waller, a shady government employee. She also played that role earlier this year in HBO Max’s successful Peacemaker series.
