The makers of “Freddy” announced on Monday that it will debut on an internet streaming platform on December 2. It stars Bollywood sensation Kartik Aaryan. The film, which was made by Balaji Telefilms and Northern Lights Films, is marketed as an intense thriller.
Shashanka Ghosh, known for movies such as “Khoobsurat”, “Veere Di Wedding” and “Plan A Plan B”, has directed “Freddy”, which stars Aaryan in the titular part of Dr Freddy Ginwala.
The persona is defined as a traumatised dentist. His only buddy is his pet turtle, “Hardy,” and he is also a social outcast who enjoys playing with his model aeroplanes.
“Freddy finds a unique way to get married to Kainaaz, but there is a twist that causes a flurry of emotions and flips his life upside down. Kainaaz (Alaya F) is a married woman who has an abusive husband but falls in love with Freddy.
The official plot summary stated that “Freddy will keep the viewers on the edge of their seats with a fascinating plot full of twists and turns.”
Aaryan claimed that the movie’s intricate plot and character required a lot of preparation for him to play them.
“The prep of the role had to be done physically and mentally as well. The character helped explore a different side of my craft and encouraged me to challenge my abilities at every step as an actor.
“I had the chance to discover my dark side for the first time. With Disney+ Hotstar, the movie will be accessible to millions of people who can watch it whenever they want. I am glad to be a part of ‘Freddy’ and excited to see the audience reaction for the film,” the actor said in a statement.
Alaya F said she wanted to be a part of the film after script narration.
“Kainaaz was a challenging character for me, I had to learn and unlearn a lot of things to get into character. I feel so grateful for this opportunity! It’s helped me widen my horizons, and it’s also enabled me to explore a whole new side of myself.
“I couldn’t have wished for a better experience with Kartik, Shashanka sir, and the rest of the crew! When will the movie be available on Disney+ Hotstar? “Added she.
Producer Ektaa R Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms said “Freddy” will present Aaryan in a “whole new avatar”.
“We are excited to associate with Disney+ Hotstar and this has given ‘Freddy’ a global platform, the audience can expect a roller coaster ride throughout the film,” she added.
According to Ghosh, the film will examine the themes of passion and betrayal as well as demonstrate how “an ordinary man turns remarkable.”
“The great writing of each character, the locations, and the background music give ‘Freddy’ its power, and this style of acting called for powerful actors like Kartik Aaryan and Alaya F.
“I am so happy to have found Freddy and Kainaaz in them. With Kartik Aaryan’s character in the film, the fans are going to be blown away seeing him in a never seen before avatar,” he added.
“Freddy” is Aaryan’s second film to receive a direct-to-digital release after “Dhamaka,” which was made available on Netflix last year.
