Ayushmann Khurrana, an actor, says that his upcoming film “An Action Hero” is different from his “staple genre of social-comedy,” and he hopes the audience will accept him in this new environment.The film follows an artist’s journey both in front of and behind the camera and is billed as a slick actioner with an offbeat satirical sense of humor.
Khurrana plays action hero Manav, who flees for his life as Bhura Solanki (Jaideep Ahlawat) seeks vengeance for his brother’s mysterious death.
The actor, who has appeared in movies like “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan,” “Badhaai Ho,” and “Dream Girl,” stated that “An Action Hero” might be his first movie without a social message.
“For me, it breaks the mold.It is not a social-comedy that I typically watch, and there is no message in it.There is pure excitement.”It’s like going through a roller coaster,” the actor told reporters on Thursday night here.
“The story in this movie is about a normal man living an extraordinary life.”The story is about how a superstar handles the emotion of revenge if he happens to be in that ordinary situation,” Khurrana added. “The emotion of revenge is something that is commonplace.
Ahlawat, who starred in “Pataal Lok,” said that he enjoyed the “An Action Hero” script.
“You won’t be able to identify heroes or villains.Every person does things for a different reason.Because he has strong motives for Ayushmann, I never considered the character to be a villain,” he added.
Anirudh Iyer, who previously worked as an assistant director on Aanand L Rai’s “Tanu Weds Manu Returns” and “Zero,” is in charge of the film’s direction.The screenplay was written by Neeraj Yadav.
The team, according to Iyer, did not approach “An Action Hero” solely as an action hero due to the story’s many layers.
“It’s a lot more than just an action movie.There is humor, suspense, and action.”He (Khurrana) ends up taking action because the situation is such,” the director stated.
According to Rai, who is producing the movie through his Color Yellow Production, the conflict between two powerful men will be the focus of the movie.
“When the script was finished, we realized it wasn’t an action movie. Therefore, we decided to ask Ayushmann first because he likes different topics.”We chased Jaideep for the other role until he did not give us dates,” Rai stated.
According to Khurrana, the film is timely due to its discussion of the volatile nature of life and the entertainment industry.
“The audience, the media, and the industry will all be able to relate to the story.”The fickle nature of the industry and life… like if you are at the top, how people treat you, and how the media reacts to it if you are at a low phase,” the actor stated.
He also addressed reports that “An Action Hero” would feature Akshay Kumar as a guest star.
Khurrana stated, “There are few points in our film that we don’t want to reveal, but it will be a fun one with whomever we collaborate.”
