Bernard Hill, who is best known for playing King Theoden in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, has criticised the prequel series The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime Video. The Rings of Power’s first season debuted on September 1 and is set tens of thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings.

The actor was asked if he had seen the eight-part first season in an interview with Metro, to which he gave a negative response. The actor continued, “I’m not interested in seeing that or being in that. It’s a money-making venture. Wishing them luck and all that, but it’s not the real deal.

The Return of the King, which was released in 2003, marked the conclusion of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, which is based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy novel of the same name. Hill said that the ROTK should have been the conclusion of the Lord of the Rings saga. It is important to note that in 2012, Tolkien’s Hobbit prequel trilogy director Peter Jackson made a comeback.

The Rings of Power’s sophomore season has already received approval from Amazon, and filming for it began in October of this year.
