The universe of Avatar 3 will be larger and darker, as James Cameron has hinted. The next instalment of the film, according to the director, would “explore other planets” and include a new tribe. Avatar 2 is currently breaking all box office records worldwide.

The Na’vi were initially presented in the 2009 film Avatar, which included the forest-dwelling Omaticaya. In the follow-up, Avatar: The Way of Water, the Metkayina, a tribe that inhabits Pandora’s coastal areas, were first introduced.

James Cameron reportedly stated that the audience would now get to experience a darker side of the Na’vi, or “Ash People,” who live on the planet and wield fire, according to a Collider story. The “Ash People” will stand in for the fire. Since I have only so far demonstrated the positive aspects of the Na’vi, I wish to present them in a different light. Very poor human examples coexist with excellent Na’vi ones in the early movies. In Avatar 3, we’ll go the other direction.

The director said that the forthcoming Avatar films will be “the finest” in the series because they would “visit new planets while continuing the tale of the core protagonists.” Avatar 3 is set to hit theatres on December 20, 2024.

“I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal. But, obviously, everything will depend on how Avatar 2 is received, if it finds its audience,” he added.

Avatar: The Way of Water has made more than $1.3 billion globally. The Way of Water is already the 15th highest global release ever, just behind the first Black Panther.
