Anupam Kher recently hosted a special event to celebrate his late friend, actor and director Satish Kaushik on his 67th birth anniversary. Called ‘Satish Kaushik Night’, the musical event was attended by the late actor’s friends and family. During the event, Kaushik’s daughter Vanshika read out a letter for her father and shared how she remembers him every day. Now, a video, which has gone viral on social media, shows Satish’s longtime friend, actor Anil Kapoor, breaking down as he is invited to the stage by Kher.

The video shows Kher sharing with guests the last conversation he had with Kaushik. He then calls Kapoor on stage. “Come, Anil. Heroes always cry and friends cry. Come,” he says. Kapoor gets up and goes towards the stage but in between he starts crying and asks his friend to go on without him. Kher also gets emotional and says, “Anil tu pagal hai. Main theek thaak jaa raha tha (Anil you are mad. I was managing well).”

Kapoor was abroad at the time of Kaushik’s death. At the same event later, he spoke about how Kaushik was unwell during the shoot of their last film together, Thar (2022).

“When we were shooting for Thar, I could feel that he was not well. I was so emotionally attached to him. I used to tell him, ‘You come at your convenience. You should relax, and take a break.’ He would tell me he is feeling acidic, and I always told him to take his time.”

Satish Kaushik passed away on March 8 after suffering a heart attack. He was 66. He is famously known for his role as “Calendar” in Mr. India (1985). He made his acting debut in 1983 with Kundan Shah’s Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro for which he also wrote the dialogues. When it comes to directorial credits, Satish helmed films like Roop Ki Rani Choro Ka Raja (1993), Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hain (2001) and Tere Naam (2003).
