1.35 crores* were received on An Action Hero’s first day, which was unsatisfactory. Even with low hopes, a start in the range of 2-3 crores was anticipated. However, the Drishyam 2 wave is currently so powerful that anything in its path is being affected. The quality of the new releases (Bhediya, An Action Hero) is less important than the fact that audiences are being drawn to the holdover release because it is so compelling.

It’s understandable why awful movies don’t succeed, but the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer is a wonderful, chaotic trip, and on a typical Friday, it would have at least found a small audience that would have grown throughout the weekend thanks to word of mouth. One hopes that does occur today and tomorrow and that it defeats Drishyam 2, which is posing stiff competition and isn’t at all slowing down.

The problem, though, is that the start is so low; as a result, the jumps must be enormous, and ideally, the collections must double at least to last over the weekend. The first day’s collections are less than Phone Bhoot’s, but the weekend must at least be greater for there to be any prospect of success.
