James Cameron’s recently released Avatar: The Way of Water sequel has made Rs 160 crore (gross) in India’s national box office in only three days since its debut. The film made Rs. 3,500 crore in its first weekend of release globally.

Since the 2009 release of the first instalment, James’ Avatar: The Way of Water has been in the works for a number of years. The epic science fiction movie takes place on the planet Pandora, where sapiens Na’vi live with native creatures. Humans attempt to colonise the planet. Ten years after the events of the first movie, the humans make a comeback and try to retake control of Pandora, this time with a far better strategy and better tools.

Along with Josh Friedman and Shame Salerno, James, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver wrote the story for the film. Along with other actors, it features Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet.

In addition to English, Avatar: The Way of Water is also being shown in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam in Indian theatres.
